Briare to Jargeau day 14

With a perfect forecast of clear warm weather we packed up early to take advantage of the cooler first few hours . Had a coffee and croissant outside the stunning Cathedral in Briare .

Cycled out and crossed the fascinating late 1800’s aqueduct that crosses the Loire

About 40 km into the ride we arrived at the bustling town of Sully sur Loire which sports this old castle still in great condition . It’s build began in the 14th century .

After our rest day we were both going strong so the kms flew by . Another wonderful day on a bike , lots to see . Small midge like insects were a problem at times both of us eating a few .

We arrived at our campsite at Jargeau in good time , plenty of time to catch up with washing gear .

Camping in France is slightly different kiwi campgrounds . They generally have a great ablutions facility with an interesting French twist . It’s called an outside Pissour – a place outside to urinate . Barbs a little weary of these froggy innovations as she’s not fond of watching old blokes taking a piss. In fact these outside Pissour are common in French cities and help to control the problem of citizens taking a piss against some random wall .

The Pissour at our campsite

The only other significant difference is French campsites don’t have kitchen facilities , just washing up areas , on the plus side the campsites are generous with plenty of shade and power outlets .

The cost is similar to a kiwi campsite at about the 30 nz$ per night . Food is very similar here , some more some less . I’m disappointed with supermarket meats but they have great butcher shops , Pork’s cheap
