Was a bit of a rude shock as we packed up our campsite , with the realisation that someone had stolen our ice box , however it gave us a new mission for the day . Find another ice box !
Fantastic day on the bike again , road surface often just perfect . The French word “ souplesse “ comes to mind. It’s that perfect state of fluidity as you spin your pedals on the perfect surface of fine tarmac. Kiwi roads with heavy chip make the feeling hard to find , here it’s an everyday joy . Effortless pleasure .

Spent a couple of hours at Amboise , a very interesting old town . Was a fruitless search for the ice box .

Found a lovely shaded spot of lunch on the trail with food we purchased at Amboise

Finally arrived at the big city of Tours and made a long climb up a busy road to find an INTERSPORTS shop. Not only did they have and ice box replacement , they did a small job on my bike , changing my gear cassette to give me a better egg beater gear to spin up the steeper hills .
Great bike service , they only charged for the part , the labour was free.

Started our day with a short ride to the local Tabac coffee shop and also a Patisserie.

Sunday in France so our immediate concern was to find a supermarket to get todays food as here they shut on Sunday afternoons. Also picked up more ice and drinks for a big day on the trail

The ride to Saumur was interesting and varied . Trail surface mostly spectacular .

Lunch today was bacon butties cooked outside an old church at the town of Avoine .
