Dansey’s Pass

Was really looking forward to this ride as I had heard it would be pretty spectacular. It was .

Was a 69 km day so I had a late start after waiting a while to see if the tent might dry out a bit . It had rained in the previous evening . I stayed on the main highway for the speed it allowed , ignoring the A 2 O trail that often follows the road here .

Had a long coffee break at the Flying Pig Cafe before taking the turnoff to Danseys pass . Was a nicely sealed section that meanders up this long valley

After breaching the bushline the route enters open tussock country with some amazing vistas

Eventually the real climbing began

I took a rather nasty tumble after losing the front wheel to a pile of pea gravel . Will be nursing a few bruises and aches n pains for awhile . Despite this the ride was really amazing , very enjoyable .

With rain threatening I made the final dash to Nasby with as much speed as I could muster . With my body feeling somewhat beaten up and a light rain falling I elected to stay in a nice little cabin . Maybe a big day tomorrow.
