Marooned in the North Island

The big southerly storm that swamped Christchurch and battered Wellington has seen us hunkering down in Paekakariki waiting until things settle down in the Cook Strait just a bit. The ferry sailing was going to be very unpleasant so we have elected in the end to spend a little time exploring this corner.

We have found a nice little cafe in the small village – close to the Railway – so Barb can afford to smile. We now plan to cross this Saturday.

Thursday settled to clear and fine – looking up the coast towards Paraparaumu – nice little bike ride
