The big southerly storm that swamped Christchurch and battered Wellington has seen us hunkering down in Paekakariki waiting until things settle down in the Cook Strait just a bit. The ferry sailing was going to be very unpleasant so we have elected in the end to spend a little time exploring this corner.
We have found a nice little cafe in the small village – close to the Railway – so Barb can afford to smile. We now plan to cross this Saturday.
