Bonny Scotland – Peebles in the Border Country

Was the longest day of the ride today – approx 140 Kms. We have our only scheduled rest day tomorrow so people are looking forward to a day off the saddle , a chance to get laundry done and some recuperation of weary limbs.

Mart excited to see the Buddhist monastery ahead – our lunch stop at about 60 Kms into the ride. Sadly little real food on offer from the nuns. We won’t make a habit of it.

The last half of the ride was exhilarating – wonderful fast descents and only a couple of long but gentle climbs to challenge the weary muscles. Towards the 15 km to go mark we enjoyed this amazing fast and furious 7 km descent. Very civilized finish to a very big day. We arrived at about 3 pm -well ahead of the luggage but I had anticipated this and used a backpack with a change of clothes.

Peebles is a very attractive Scottish town – we will have a chance for a good explore tomorrow.
