members of the nz motor caravan association make the biannual pilgrimage to Warbirds over Wanaka – the airport sits in an alluvial valley with a steep hillside alongside a private farm with a large flat plateau area above the Panoramic festival of the warbirds below. A mass of all types of members motor homes park on top for the million dollar view all for a few hundreds dollars inclusive of a three day pass into the venue below.
jet racing – a bit like the starwars movie where Luke races some jet around a course delineated by pylons – about a 15 km circuit . Crazy
All these planes we saw in dramatic action – with a great commentary from experts and other war bird fanatics – for them this stuff is simple unadulterated fun.
The ridge line is lined with us motor home folk – most outside sitting on deck chairs soaking up the occasion – an energetically steep walk down to the airfield itself
Warbirds would not be complete without the appearance of the crowd favorite – the beautiful Spitfire – the iconic WW 2 fighter that was unique in so many ways. It gave several great displays – wowed the crowds.
How do we contact the private farm with a large flat plateau area above the Panoramic festival of the warbirds below for a site for the weekend over Easter?
