The day started early – drove away at 8 am – as I needed to relocate the 5th wheel to lake Ohau for tonight’s digs and drop off the ute to Omarama where we will be in 2 days time.
Dropped Barb off at the cafe in Twizel – she had to wait for things to open at about 9am and it was pretty cold after a 6 degree c night. After parking the ute at Omarama I chanced my thumb for the trip back to Twizel and was happy to be given a lift within about 5 minutes of waiting.
Found Barb back at Twizel at about 10 30 am all caffeine’d up and ready for the trail.
had only been on the ride for about 5 Kms and we came to this beautiful lake called Loch Cameron. barb insisted on stopping for a dip. I was content to watch.
She always tells me in virtuous tone about just how warm the water was – yeh Right !
The ride then follows the canal down to lake Ohau. An easy ride gently descending. Stunning vistas and then the magnificent Lake. The track then skirts the lake shore and turns into a neat single track for about 10 Kms .
Had a nice swim when we finished the ride at our wagon.
Out for an attempt to catch a fish – no luck this arvo – try again on dawn
