Been on Barbs wish list to come back and walk this track after our first foray here 2 years ago using our sea kayak. Started with an early departure from Picton where we took the “ Cougar line “ boat shuttle out through the magnificent sounds to Cooks Ship Cove . Was capt. Cooks favourite nz anchorage and a safe spot he returned to repeatedly way back in the late 1700’s.
The walk begins with a steady climb to about 250 metres before dropping down to School house bay
0Another climb followed to the top of Tawa saddle from where breathtaking views of both Resolution Bay and Endeavour Inlet can be seen. It is a very well maintained track but very unforgiving hard rocky surface challenging to unseasoned joints.
We both started to notice knee feedback from the steady unrelenting descent up into Endeavour Inlet
As various aches and pains started to sheet home I looked over to Barb and said , “ Welcome to old age !”
The resort , Furneaux Lodge finally beckoned and we stopped a while for some rehydration.
Finally made it to Miners Camp at the head of the Endeavour inlet and we are camping ⛺️
