Punga Cove to Portage – Day 3

Beautiful mild conditions with plenty of sunshine and just a gentle breeze as we completed a big day on the trail . The gps tracker confirmed we made 25.5 kms . As we made our way down the last hill to Portage we listed our various aches and pains in order of most painful down . Both our lists are impressive, needless to say we both looked very happy to arrive finally at this Hotel which we had booked. The interesting thing about this walk is all the possible ways you can do it with lots of different accomodations available and the boat baggage service that moves bags , bikes and buggered bod’s up and down the sounds.

Our ” thank God we made it look ” Portage Resort Hotel

From Punga Cove the Track climbs steadily till it reaches a great vantage point over looking Kenepuru Sound. The track then stays on top of the ridge line with amazing views down to both sounds .

Was a great walk , tougher than we had imagined it to be but mainly due to some niggling pain issues . We walked for close to 6 hours plus another 1.5 hours for stops.

will sleep well tonight , a huge king size bed , proper chairs and no Wekas trying to nick stuff.
