Joining an organized group today to begin an epic bike ride from Lands End to John O’groats . Was picked up from Newquay and started the introductions to the other folk who will be also cycling. We have 13 cyclists – 2 guides and a van. A wonderful chance to explore the place of my genetic heritage.
We are staying at a golf club on the Cornish coast very close to the old town of St Just – also close to Penzance. weather is fine and warm – long may it last. All the poms seem to be out and about – enjoying the sun.
My bike survived the two flights and the risks entailed. Most of the group have hired bikes from the organizers – so there is a lot of activity surrounding fitting / adjusting the bikes out so that they fit properly. We have an international group – a few Americans , couple of Aussies, me , some English and I think one Canadian.
Got my bike sorted and headed into St just to check out the old town. Great place and I just had to try my first genuine Cornish Pasty.
And the verdict ??
Pretty damn good – but Greg from Kerikeri Bakehouse has taken this art to its next level.
