A short ride today – a mere 65 Kms but it places us at the beginning of 2 big hilly days as we make our way on to Inverness.
John proclaimed , ” Only 5 more sleeps till I go home” – bit of a romantic at heart I suspect and he is so keen to dash home to his Nancy that he is actually considering the prospect of bailing one day early so he can make his train back home.
Was a wet day on the road – a few showers kept us with coats on and the effort ensured we were damp from either or rain or sweat. Marty Jamie and I found this quaint award winning ye old tea shop in the pretty city of Perth. Enjoyed great service , and lovely scones.
We found Oswald at Scones Palace – a noted tourist attraction on the edge of Perth, a place of historical significance as the place where Scots Kings were crowned. With rain threatening and only about 30 odd Kms to go to lunch he joined our echelon for a faster paced finish.
It is actually possible to gain significant weight on these catered cycling holidays due to the super over abundance of food. Every morning break you are given a bin of snacks with instructions to eat well and not go hungry – then there is the drink!
